How to Choose a Hormone Therapy Doctor in South Florida

Hormone therapy is now offered by medical practices, med spas, and national online clinics. Credentials, laboratory testing, physician involvement, and follow-up can vary considerably. These are the questions patients should ask before beginning treatment.

Questions to Ask Before Starting Hormone Therapy

Dr. Mackey at his desk at NovaGenix in Jupiter, Florida

1. Who reviews your laboratory results?

Ask whether the treating physician personally reviews your labs, health history, and treatment plan.

2. Which laboratory tests are included?

Testing should reflect the patient’s needs and may include hormone levels, hematocrit, estradiol, PSA when indicated, and other relevant markers.

3. What health risks are screened first?

Discuss fertility goals, sleep apnea, prostate history, cardiovascular risk, and—for women—breast and clotting history.

4. How will you receive medication?

Ask whether prescriptions are filled through a Florida pharmacy, delivered, or available for local pickup.

5. What happens after treatment begins?

A responsible program includes scheduled follow-up visits, repeat laboratory testing, and a clear way to report concerns.

6. Is care available in person and by telehealth?

Telehealth can be convenient, but a physician may require an examination or in-person visit when clinically appropriate.
